JESKYNS FARM, KENT
At 146 hectares this is a big site that was developed in consultation with, by and for the local and wider community. Providing public access with paths ensures use by all abilities and interests; the creation of new habitats to encourage wildlife and enhancing the local landscape with a community orchard and new ponds, this is an exciting green space that can only improve with time.
Accessibility, traditional and natural materials were the order of the day. Our design team took the brief that centred round a vantage point with play opportunities for the children. This was provided in the form of the magnificent tree house that wasnt to look too perfect, too designed, in fact the more higgledy-piggledy and Heath Robinson the better. A tall order with safety a paramount requirement. Amongst other items, we installed a seat in the shape of a traditional Kentish cowl, two opposing pill boxes as well as a stage area with ramp access and Badger lookouts.
The countryside, sustainability, community, diversity, and care of the environment are all key to the ethos of this project and we hope to have some more up to date images to show you soon showing the progression since installation took place.
